The ongoing global economic crisis is going to increase unemployment worldwide. Director-General of ILO says it is about time that all governments of the world work in a coordinated manner to combat this phenomenon of joblessness.
 
 
 
 
22-10-2008 A new world record was set during October 17-19 when over 116 million people stood up worldwide against poverty and for the Millennium Development Goals. Asia had the highest numbers of 73 million, of which 14 million were from India and another 13 million from Bangladesh.

    20-08-2008 Indo-US agriculture deal known as Knowledge Initiative on Agriculture announced three years ago is being used to open up India's agriculture market to American MNCs. US agri-giants Monsanto, Cargill and Archer Daniels Midland now find it inadequate and want a complete overhaul of the sector.

    20-11-2008 The on-going global credit crisis has already started impacting the poor in South Asia. For close to four decades microfinance programmes in the region had supported small borrowers to set up small businesses and helped them come out of the vicious cycle of poverty.
